sewing machines.

Within the next month or two I hope to have a brand new sewing machine! I have looked into a few but not ready to take the plunge until I do a little more research. I am looking for something that would be a great investment because I don't want to have to buy a new one anytime soon; I don't want to spend more than $500. What brand and model are you using to sew with?

{Brother SE350}
{Singer 7467}
{Brother CE5000 PRW}
{Kenmore Computerized w/ 110 stitch functions}

I can't sew at all, but if I had to guess, I'd go with the Singer. They've been around forever!

Yay! I am so excited you are getting a sewing machine, these are much nicer than mine from the 1960's but I think Singer is the best. Call me, let's hang out this week. Congrats on that blog award too! You deserve it, your blog rocks my world.

I've always used Berninas so I can't really say anything about the other brands. Singer has been around for soooo long though. I bet they're good quality.
I hope I'm getting a new sewing machine for christmas!

$500 is a lot of money!!!! In 2004 (maybe the prices varied a little) I bought a brand new Singer for $350. It was a great machine. I sold if for $50 when I left the USA and moved to Spain. So cheap! I always regret the price that I sold it for. Please, let me know the one you end up buying. I am going to get one for Christmas.

I have a Bernina. I've had it for years, my Mum uses one and has had it for over 25 years and my sister also has one.
When a local college bought new machines they auctioned off their old ones and thus I owned my machine.
Nothing wrong with it, got a service and it's been perfect ever since :)

My family has had Bernina machines since the 1950's - we still have one at home that my grandfather used in his tailors shop! I have a Bernina Activa 230 but there are cheaper models available! X
